I'm exhausted. I got four hours of sleep last night because I was studying for today's Medicine exam and had to SOAP my cow this morning. It's been a seriously long week but a good week. I helped perform an omentopexy and abdominal exploratory on a cow, I did my first epidural on a cow, and I placed my first IV catheter in a horse. I really like getting hands-on experience. It's sooo much better than sitting in a classroom. This week I also got a bit more experience doing rectal palpation on my cow. It's pretty awesome to be able to feel a calf in there!
I've now had three sessions with my personal trainer, and I absolutely love it. It's so nice doing something different for workouts. My body is sore, but it's a feeling I love. This weekend I'm at home with my family. Tomorrow I'm getting a massage - I can't wait!
Well, Monday is Valentine's Day, which I've always thought is a pretty ridiculous holiday. I'm sure I'll be spending it with my cats as usual. Sigh.

Happiness
I've been focusing on happiness lately. I was fairly depressed for a couple weeks, but I feel like I'm starting to get back to my old self. I have to constantly remind myself that being happy really is a choice. I let events in my life affect me way too much. I need to learn to go with the flow and stop trying to control everything. I'm not going to always get what I want, and it's time I face that fact.
So, what have I been doing recently?
Well, I've been working out just about every day. My first meeting with the personal trainer was definitely a success. I did my first spin class today (loved it!), I went running outside yesterday since it was gorgeous out. I think I'm gradually getting in better shape. I have of course also been studying, and so far it's paid off, which is nice. Last night I went over to a friend's house and played Just Dance on the Wii. Pretty much the best game ever! I highly suggest you try it out. Not only is it super fun, but it's also a good workout! If you haven't figured it out yet, I really love working out. I would do it all day long if I had the time.
I'm still on the lookout for my Prince Charming. He was last seen running with a friendly yellow lab. His face is probably on a milk carton somewhere (dark hair with gorgeous eyes). If you find him, please give him my number and say it's urgent.
P.S. It's been a long time since I listened to Pandora, and I forgot how happy it makes me. Music is very therapeutic. Right now I'm on A Fine Frenzy radio because I love her, but it's also nice to study to because it plays several beautiful piano-only songs. I love piano.

Snow Day!
Today is actually our second consecutive snow day. Yesterday I stayed at home and studied, but by the end of the day I started to feel like panini bread getting pressed. I start to go crazy if I stay inside too long, so today I visited Radina's. It was much busier than I expected; by one o'clock all the seats were taken. I had a productive not-so-depressing day, which was nice. The only bad thing about having snow days in vet school is that they really aren't days off at all. We just watch the lectures online rather than going to class, and we obviously still must study. I miss undergrad snow days when we could lounge around and watch movies. Sigh. Today is Febuary 1st, which means we have about 15 months until graduation. Perhaps I should make a popcorn strand and count down the months...hmm. How long does popcorn last? Surely it has enough preservative to survive, but I'm not sure I'd want to eat it. Still, it might be fun to string something around my room, provided my cat doesn't destroy it. I'll let you know how that goes. Unfortunately, I've got a bit more Zoonosis to study before tomorrow's test. I'm actually hoping we have school so we can get this damn test out of the way and move on with our lives.
Until next time,
